New Dialogue Word Lessons and Dialogue Phrases Lessons

A recent Lingopolo addition which I am pretty pleased with is the introduction of Dialogue Word Lessons and Dialogue Phrase Lessons.

New Thai lessons: Musical Instruments, Pets and Toys

I'm pleased to announce 3 new Thai lessons:

Known words summary

I am pleased to announce the introduction of a "Words Known" and "Words known by level" summary for logged in users:

The Solar System, on the farm and birds

I'm pleased to announce the addition of three new Thai lessons: the Solar SystemOn the farm and Birds.

Now there's a funny collection.

New Summary section

I am pleased to announce the addition of a new "Summary" section to each word, phrase or dialogue. This presents, what I think to be, a beautiful summary of what the recording is all about. Strictly speaking it doesn't add any information which isn't already available on the page (with the tiny exception of actually stating how many parts the literal breakdown contains); the page already contains the English, the Thai, and the Literal Breakdown. However, it does add a subtle but important usability aspect to the pages.

Improved recordings player

I have replaced the original recordings player, which used to look as follows:

with the following design:

What's changed and why? Firstly, what's changed: basically all the buttons and controls which in the context of learning a language had no real value have been removed, and the overall size of the player has been reduced. Specifically

"Alternative meanings (Homophones)" and "See also" word relationships

I am pleased to announce the addition of "Alternative meanings (Homophones)" and "See also" links. What on earth am I talking about? Indeed. Let me give a few examples, and hopefully it'll become clearer.

Improved "Examples of usage" for each Thai word

There are some changes to Lingopolo that make me really very excited; this one here is one of those.

Over 1000 Thai words!

I am pleased to say that Lingopolo now has over 1000 Thai words!  You can see the exact number by looking at the Thai words lesson. This doesn't even include the Thai phrases, of which there are already hundreds. I try and add a few new Thai words or phrases every day (as you can see from checking the recent additions page).  If you have any Thai words which you would like me to add, do let me know.  I'm off now to add another few words...

New Thai lesson: Kitchen

Following hot on the heels of the new lesson for living room objects in Thai, I am pleased to announce the addition of a new lesson for kitchen objects in Thai.

Firstly, of course, we have the Thai word for kitchen.

We have the Thai words for all the big equipment: oven, refrigerator, washing machine.
